Dear NSA,

What do you want in a president? This person will be leading and representing you. Some of the characteristics I believe are the most important for a president to have is reliability, organization, personally connects and engages students, and is a godly leader. The person that immediately comes to mind for me is Maia Coyle. I have had the incredible opportunity of getting to know Maia over the past year and a half. She has served NSA as the Secretary on Student Council and I have worked with her for many different events. Maia meets all the characteristics above. She is reliable, she is organized, she personally connects and engages students, and most importantly, she is a godly leader. If I had any question about anything, I knew immediately who I could contact for answers. She is very quick about responding and provides detailed answers. She get’s everything done in a timely manner. Anything I’ve asked for help with or needed her to do, she has done it not only efficiently, but also, it’s a job well done! Maia is also really encouraging! This year has been crazy busy for me, and I always knew that I could come to her about anything from life advice, to prayer requests, to just telling her all the drama in my life, and she’d listen. That’s most important part. She’d listen. A good leader and friend will listen to what you have to say and think carefully about a solution. I have seen this in the way that Maia has handled various situations. Additionally, Maia is incredibly organized. Everything I’ve worked with her on she has an incredibly neat google doc to go with it that has all the information I need. I know school and life can be overwhelming but despite this, Maia intentionally builds relationships with the students. She is purposeful in ensuring that all the students feel welcome at NSA and is consistently engaging the students! Lastly, Maia is a godly leader. I can see her love for the Lord just in the ways that she serves NSA and the way that she serves everyone around her. As I said above, I know I can come to Maia for prayer requests or even just small praises. She is always there to pray for me and is so encouraging. It is because of these characteristics that Maia has that you should vote for her as the NSA president for the 24-25 school year!

Maia would make an amazing president. She is one of the sweetest people I know. Maia shows a Christ-like-character in her interactions with people. Maia is so helpful and generous. If you feel sad, or lonely talk to Maia and she will put a smile on your face. She is always so kind and thoughtful. I love Maia so much.

Maia does an amazing job at reaching out to people. Maia reached out to me on teams 3 years ago and was so loving and welcoming to me. Whenever I had questions she would answer them for me she encourages me to do the things I want to do. Even when Maia doesn’t know you she treats and you like you’re her best friend. Maia has grown to be a person I really look up too.

I’ve watched Maia in her other leadership roles and she’s done an amazing job at making everyone feel at home at Northstar. In calls Maia is makes sure that people’s voices get heard. And that everyone just has fun. Maia makes sure that no one gets left out and everyone feels welcome. Maia is just one of those people that make Northstar so much better. She’s made Northstar and the people in it thrive. And I truly think she would make a great president. So vote for Maia as president!

Maia would be the best option for president. She is sweet and kind to the bone. She never leaves anyone excluded, and is intentional in reaching out to other students. Maia is incredibly humble and listens to everyone without forgetting a single person. Maia guides her life by the Word and works diligently with a smile. Maia has plenty of experience on Student Council and completes her work with excellency. Maia is all about connection and building relationships. She’s a friend to anyone who needs it, and supports them in their endeavors. Maia is an amazing communicator and works well with her teammates. She hears other people while also offering her own ideas and opinions on a topic. She is compassionate and a great listener, and never shies away from a challenge. As president, I know Maia can continually help in transforming the NSA community into an open, fun, and iNSAne place for all students. VOTE MAIA FOR PREZZZ!

The two words that best describe Maia are: servant leader. She is not only very wise and capable when it comes to instructing others, but she is also kind to those she is leading. She consistently puts the needs of others before herself. I am always amazed at how Maia can do it all. She is so close to God and constantly seeks to please Him in everything she does. She also gives everything she has to Student Council and NorthStar Academy as a whole. As much as she loves this school, it seems impossible that she could love anything more, but she absolutely adores the student body. She is outgoing and welcoming to every person she meets. No matter who you are, you can be sure that Maia will be your friend if you reach out to her. Even though she has amazing leadership abilities, it is her kindness and loving nature that make me sure she is the best fit for President. She genuinely cares about each person in this community and she has already done so much to show that love around our campus. She has a heart for God and a heart for students. She will do wonders for this school! Vote Maia for President!

When I think about all the qualities that a stuco president should have, I am convinced that Maia would be an amazing one! First, Maia has lots of experience with stuco. She did a great job as welcome committee leader and has been doing a great job as secretary. Second, Maia is a good leader. She does her best with everything she does and helps others do their best too. She is so encouraging and supportive! Third, Maia is a very kind and sweet person. She is thoughtful and friendly. Finally, Maia knows NSA well and is very involved in our community. NSA’s student council president should be experienced, a good leader, a kind friend, and an active member of the community. Maia is all of those things! You should vote for her 🙂

Maia would be the best option for StuCo president. She’s a hard worker and always shows up to meetings on time and with a plan of what she wants to cover or have done. She’s always willing to take the time to answer questions from students and make sure that she answers them in the best way she can. Even without asking for help, she reaches out to make sure that I am doing okay and truly cares about how I’m doing and if there is anything she can do to make things easier or simpler. Maia is a fun, kind, loyal, and brave person to have as president. As a friend, Maia is someone I know I can trust and go to if I needed something. Sometimes we have calls at early times in the day for her, but even so, she comes with a smile on her face and encourages students to have a good time. She’s supportive and never shies away from contributing her own amazing ideas to make a project better. Maia has the skills and kindness to keep the NorthStar community up and running in the best way possible! Vote for Maia for president!!!

Maia is the perfect candidate for the president position. As a leader, I believe she will listen to other students and their opinions to ensure that others feel heard. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Maia in person for a few years, and something I’ve always admired about her is her bright spirit and her way of talking to others. Maia sees things through a Biblical perspective that is always looking for the joy in life. When she is talking to someone, she makes sure that she is giving her full attention to the person she is talking to. Her kind spirit and ability to connect with others are valuable qualities for a leader. She has a strong work ethic which is evident through her academic and athletic accomplishments as well in areas in her community. Having seen Maia in action as WCL and Secretary these past few years, I can’t imagine a better person to be the next StuCo president. – Estella Nguyen

Maia – this absolute ray of sunshine is the most fitting person for president! She will go above and beyond in this leadership position just as she does in all other parts of life, as a friend, student, and Christian. She loves the Lord with all her heart and is an utter reflection of His love! She approaches everything she does with boundless effort and kindness, regardless of challenges she might face. She is a friend to anyone and everyone and seeks to build genuine relationships and connections. Her extensive experience on Student Council and meaningful responses to questions and ideas will be of great strength to NSA’s student body. I know she will bring so much joy, fun, and love to this community! There aren’t enough good things I can say about this girl — VOTE MAIA FOR PREZ!!!

I think Maia would be a great pick for president, I might not know her too well as a friend but I have worked alongside/under her leadership and I cant say I have any complaints. Her leadership has been very confident and eager to hear others opinions and thoughts even if they’re negative. She appreciates constructive criticism which is such a great thing in a leader. She always has this positivity and will that never really gives up. I feel if Maia was president she could be a great spark for the rest of student council, she has the energy, passion and will to lead. I have 100% confidence in Maia and her abilities. Like I said I dont know Maia as well as other friends of mine but even with minimal experience I can say she is very welcoming and willing to help someone out!

I believe Maia Coyle will do her best to serve the interests of the students at NSA and collaborate with them and faculty members to help bring positive change to student life. I have known Maia for a few years and met up with her in person. She is a hardworking individual who always knows how to have fun. Her previous experiences as WCL and Secretary will serve her well in the role of StuCo president. As a senior, there isn’t anyone I would rather have as president to foster the NSA community. Vote for Maia! She’s very cool beans! – Evelyn

Maia is one of the hardest-working people I know. Her time-management skills are incredible and she always takes the initiative in projects. If you ask her to do something, it will be done well and on time! She works fast and efficiently but also knows how to set healthy leadership boundaries. She has had experience in leading other leaders, which will be a necessary part of being StuCo President. She is great at civilly discussing difficult situations and brainstorming solutions. She has amazing ideas but still ensures everyone has a chance to speak and be heard. Most importantly, she understands that servant leadership hinges on uplifting others and encouraging them. She truly values the people she works with, making her a great team leader.

Maia is a wonderful lady who I trust very much.  NSA needs strong leadership right now, and considering what I know of her, she fits the bill to a T.  She has numerous StuCo positions already under her experience belt and has also been praised in said positions for doing a good job.  She is a long time NSAer, and because she’s been through a thing or two in this school, she knows a thing or two that someone might not.  From my discussions with her, and five years of us being friends, she knows what can and should be done, and will not be afraid to do it.  She is honest, good, kind, friendly, helpful, gentle, gracious, and does fight for what is right.  Through talking about this presidency with her, I see several things that are advantageous about her being elected:

  1. She sees NSA as unique and seeks to keep it that way.  Having a unique social platform, culture, Christian worldview, and structure.  She sees that these make NSA, NSA, and wishes to keep those all intact.
  2. She sees StuCo as something that can change NSA for the better.  She has many plans about how to help the Students, Advisors, StuCo, and those coming into the NSA fold.
  3. She cares about Legacy.  She knows the Legacy of the past and wants to form a likewise legacy for the future.  She has past NSA alumni that she can talk to for help, not just the people in NSA.
  4. She sees NSA culture as something to be very prized.  One thing she really wants is for NSA dances to come back, which haven’t been around in two years.  She has really been connected into NSA for a long time, and knows that the culture should not be changed or shaken.  She said when we talked that she actually wants to learn more about the lore this coming year, and is interested in Lore type events.  She also holds high respect for the Wiki, and that it houses valuable information.
  5. She sees that new students are key to NSA success (info coming).
  6. She knows that we have had problems in the past, and even in this year.  She won’t dodge that nothing, but Jesus, is perfect.
  7. She thinks that Students are valuable, and that self-moderation of chats should be a thing.  She also thinks that StuCo should take an active hand in student disputes and try to mediate peace.  Students and StuCo should work together.
  8. Maia wishes that Students would also do more.  She wants Students to do their own projects to help activity and help teams to be better, friendly, active, and a fun place to be.
  9. Maia also wants to help the Welcome Committee.  The Welcome Committee and the Welcome Committee leaders have been overshadowed recently, and Maia wants to build up a strong WC that these leaders can use to welcome new people to NSA.  Because she herself has been a WCL before, she understands that new kids being active on teams is key to making Teams a place were people want to be.
  10. She will take student critique, and be a president for the students.

For these reasons and more, I support her with my ballot.

I think Maia would be an excellent president due to her work ethic, social personality, and experience at NorthStar Academy. Maia is always on top of her course work, student council work, and extracurricular work in a balance manner. She constantly makes sure that student council runs smoothly and efficiently. I in particular know that I could always ask Maia for any questions about NorthStar when needed. If she couldn’t answer the question for me, she knew who I could talk to. Maia is also great with people and great on a call. She can lead and host calls for StuCo or the student body easily and well prepared. Finally, Maia is extremely familiar with the online campus. She has the experience in her tool belt to best represent NorthStar as a whole.

Thomas (Blake) Crosby

I think Maia would make an amazing president because she has a heart for people. She is welcoming to everyone and is the kind of person you would want to lead your student body. She knows the ins and outs of NSA and has seen a lot of the kind of problems we have encountered with StuCo. She’s been there for me through the tough times, not just in StuCo as my secretary, but also in life. I know she prays for me and that she’s there for me if I need help. That’s the kind of president she’d be. One who cares about every single student at NSA and prays for each and every one of them. She may not be able to personally know all of them, but I know that she’d make a great effort to connect with many. Maia would be the best president and I’m most definitely rooting for her!

As a peer, I have had the pleasure of knowing Maia for the last couple of years. I have worked with Maia through math classes, the tutoring team, and Student Council. Throughout these years Maia has been a leader of mine, a friend to talk to, and a great math buddy.

One of Maia’s great qualities I have seen is that she listens. Maia has always been open to new ideas, concepts, and change. As secretary she oversees the tutoring program and has worked hard in improving it. With her as a leader I have seen the tutoring team go from students barely knowing about it, to students constantly asking for help and coming back. Maia has demonstrated great leadership as she is on top of her work and gets it done. When going on calls with Maia one may realize that she is always smiling and has such a calm and relaxing energy. I find this very pleasing as it always adds great energy to the room.

While I will certainly miss seeing this lovely face every week, I can say with confidence that she will make a great NSA President. I am certain she is more than ready to take on this position and that the decisions she will make will be to better NSA. If you have any questions regarding this recommendation, do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Maia Coyle was the first friend I made at NSA and I couldn’t have been more blessed because of it. If I was asked to think of someone to run for President at NSA she would be the first one to come to mind. She cares about everyone and has a very big heart. Her spirit is very close to God and is always very caring. Maia is beautiful on the outside as well as the inside. She is perfect to be the NSA president because of her caring about this school and everyone in it. She would make sure to try her best and I’ve found that her best is above and beyond what is needed. She is very trustworthy, helpful, loyal, friendly, kind, cheerful, and caring. As someone who has met her in person I just wanna say she is everything you need in a NSA President. She always goes above and beyond to do nice things for anyone and everyone. I believe she would make a fantastic NSA President so, Vote for Maia!!!

Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re an NSA voter wondering why Maia would be a good president. Thank you for taking the time to check out her campaign pages and see what your fellow students have to say about her! I’m confident Maia would be a spectacular president because of her personality, experience, and leadership attitude. Maia has a great personality for a president – friendly, gracious, and empathetic, yet driven and extremely hardworking. She is never too busy to talk and always able to have a conversation with anyone, while still managing fifty different responsibilities at once. In other words, she’s perfect. She will be able to serve the student body well, in a caring and attentive way. Maia also has a long list of experiences in leadership roles (coughgolookatthe”MyExperience”sectioncough), which make her an excellent candidate. This experience will enable her to transition into the role of president easily, and serve people effectively when she gets there. Most importantly, Maia understands how to lead the right way – as a servant. She knows that leadership is about serving those she is leading, and lives out this philosophy in her existing leadership positions. This attitude means she will prioritize the well-being of the student body, and let the people’s best interest guide her actions. All of this to say, Maia Coyle has the qualifications to be one of the best presidents NSA has ever had. Go vote for her!
